Delhi University to get new Vice Chancellor soon
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had earlier asked that all the posts lying vacant in every central university across the country must be filled in “mission mode”.
Delhi University will get a new Vice-Chancellor soon. As per reports, Education Ministry has already finished the selection process and finalised the new names for the post. However, the name of the new Vice-Chancellor has not been announced yet. The name will be announced once it is approved by the President of India.
As per media reports, there are some prominent names that have been discussed, including M Jagdish Kumar, VC of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Delhi Technological University VC Yogesh Singh, Sangeeta Mishra, and others.
Apart from DU, many Universities are looking forward to the appointment of new Vice-Chancellors. The appointment of new VCs in JNU, Banaras Hindu University, Central University in Assam and Rajasthan, and both central Sanskrit universities are pending.
The Union Education Ministry has completed the selection process for the VC appointments in many universities across the country. The names of the new VCs will be announced after the President’s assent to the proposal of the Union Education Ministry.
In July, the VCs of 12 different central Universities were appointed on the recommendations of the Union Education Ministry. The 12 central universities for which President Ram Nath Kovind had approved the appointments included the central universities of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Hyderabad.
President Kovind has also approved the appointment of new VCs in the Central University of South Bihar (Gaya) and Manipur University, Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Northeastern Hill University, Guru Ghasidas University, and Bilaspur University.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had earlier asked that all the posts lying vacant in every central university across the country must be filled in “mission mode”. Also, all central universities must immediately come out with advertisements for the vacant posts. September 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 will be the last for releasing the advertisements.
