IIM Ahmedabad COVID-19 Surge: The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad recently recorded 98 new COVID-19 cases on April 12. Reports suggest that out of the total, roughly 75 per cent of infected people being asymptomatic and 90 percent symptomatic and have no symptoms after three-four days of medication. So far, IIM Ahmedabad reported 170 COVID-19 positive cases on the campus from which 72 have recovered. A vaccination drive has also been conducted by the institute of over 550 community members with the support of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. The institute is also conducting RT PCR testing on the campus since September 2020 with 4,899 tests conducted so far. Since March 2021, IIM Ahmedabad conducted a total of 2302 tests on the campus.

IIM Ahmedabad COVID-19 protocols

Considering the surge in the novel coronavirus cases, IIM-A issued fresh guidelines to control the situation. The institute has restricted students' movement. Physical meetings and guests from outside the campus have also been barred on the campus of IIM Ahmedabad. Carry a COVID-19 test done in the last 72 hours has been made mandatory for students returning to the campus from outside. The students who do not get the test report will also be required to quarantine themselves for a week in their houses and take the RT-PCR test.

Meanwhile, several other institutions including Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and Delhi University (DU) have also issued new COVID-19 guidelines restricting movement inside the campus of the respective institutions. Institutions such as IIT Delhi have stopped the students from returning in March while IIT Bombay and IIT Jodhpur have tightened the COVID-19 preventive measures inside the campus.
