With an aim to provide quick X-ray consultations, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur alumnus Umakant Soni has come up with Xray Setu in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology (IISc) Bengaluru and AI & Robotics Technology Park (ARTPARK). Powered by artificial intelligence, Xray Setu can detect 14 lung ailments and facilitate early intervention in COVID-19 cases.

Holding a Masters of Technology in Environment Engineering and Management degree from IIT Kanpur, Umakant Soni has developed a free-to-use platform- Xray Setu, a unique transfer learning framework. It generally takes 48-72 hours before a conclusive RT-PCR test report is shared with the patient and meanwhile, the health of the infected individual worsens. Keeping that in mind, Umakant Soni has developed this new technology to give quick results.

It took over a year to develop Xray Setu, as research was being setback by the non-availability of COVID-positive X-rays. However, in the last 10 months, Xray Setu has successfully helped over 300 doctors in diagnosing illnesses with analogue as well as digital X-rays and low-resolution images, sent from mobile phones.

To use the features of this app, you have to visit its official website and click on 'Try the free Xray Setu Beta' tab. This will prompt you to another window where you can connect with a Whatsapp chatbot. You will be provided with a number where you can share your chest X-ray and a diagnostic report will be sent to you within half an hour.
