IIT Roorkee and ISRO have collaborated to celebrate World Space Week 2021 from October 4 to October to mark people’s contribution to space, science, and technology.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee and the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) have launched an online lecture series with an aim to commemorate World Space Week 2021. The institute has been celebrating World Space Week 2021 consecutively for four years. With the aim to celebrate the rich contribution of people in the field of science, technology, and space, World Space Week 2021 is being celebrated from October 4 to October 10. 

This year, the theme of World Space Week 2021 is ‘Women in Space’. The institute has also decided to hold a series of lectures from October 6 to October 9, 2021. The lectures are being provided by eminent professors and students are being provided strategic insights into the aerospace system, space technology, and also the working of the Indian space programme. 

The inauguration of the event was done by Prof Ajit Chaturvedi, Director, IIT Roorkee. Prof Chaturvedi said, “I am happy that celebration of World Space Week has now become an annual event at IIT Roorkee. I am sure it will help our Space Technology Cell in fostering collaboration between IIT Roorkee and ISRO.”

The first session of the event will be based on the “Indian Space Programme-A success story”. It will be held for a duration of one hour. The second session of the event will be based on “Quality and Reliability of Aerospace System” and the third session would be based on “Space Science Missions”.
