The third-year BA and BCom exams will start online on October 26. Second-year MA exams will be held online from November 2 and second-year MCom exams will be held online from November 6.

Mumbai University’s (MU) Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL) is all set to begin the backlog exams from today; i.e. October 19, onwards. The MU IDOL's will conduct all the backlog exams on Google forms by the Institute of Distance and Open Learning, IDOL teachers. The exam that was postponed by the varsity earlier due to technical glitches would be conducted from October 19 to 21, 2020. The varsity will be conducting the backlog exams for 17 courses today.

"The third-year BA and BCom exams will start online on October 26. Second-year MA exams will be held online from November 2 and second-year MCom exams will be held online from November 6. Practice exams for this exam will be held soon," the varsity said in a statement.

“Only a few hundred students will be appearing for the backlog exams, so IDOL teachers will be conducting the exams on all three dates on Google forms. Exams for fresh candidates, including TYBCom, TYBA as well as MCom and MA will be conducted by the new service provider,” said a senior official from the varsity.

On October 7, 2020, almost 9000 TYBCom and TYBA students from IDOL and the other MU departments did not attempt their paper due to technical glitches. This decision came days after exams by IDOL had to be rescheduled due to thousands of students not appearing for the exam due to technical glitches.

On the same day, the varsity in a statement blamed the errors on a cyber attack on the examination software. No information since has been shared about this issue by the varsity.

MU has hired a new technology partner to conduct exams for IDOL. It is a Pune based Edtech company Splashgain Technologies whose platform Eklavvya uses remote proctoring. The exams would be taken by a smaller batch of students. This company has already conducted online exams for several affiliated colleges in Mumbai.
