Mumbai University postponed the final year exams scheduled to be held today to October 18, owing to the power cut issue in the city.

Mumbai University Final Year Exams 2020: Mumbai University which was supposed to conduct the final year exams today has postponed it to October 18, 2020, due to the major power cut issue in the city. Dr. Hemlata Bagla, Principal KC College, Cluster Head university Examinations 2020 said “all students are hereby informed that due to massive power breakdown all over Maharashtra and as the extent and time of power outage can't be assessed, All UG and PG examination are being rescheduled to Sunday, 18th October 2020. The timings will remain the same.”

Students have now informed that the timing of the exams will remain the same. The Mumbai University has begun the final year exams from October 1, 2020. The exams were conducted in an online mode and the question paper was set in multiple-choice format, owing to the ongoing coronavirus crisis in the country. The online exam is of one hour and the paper is 50 marks. As many as 2,47,500 students are appearing for the examinations this year.

In the latest circular issued by the varsity, the colleges have been asked to award grace marks in the online exams in MCQ format whenever required and in consultation with the lead colleges in their clusters. The statutory grace marks would be given to students only if they clear the exams after giving it. The grace marks are not more than 1 per cent of the aggregate marks and not more than five marks in any subject. Moreover, participants of NSS, NCC, and other inter-university cultural or sports programs would also be eligible for grace marks.

The power outage has impacted all day to day activities including Mumbai suburban train services in the city. Efforts are underway to restore power supply in the city at the earliest, an official from the Energy Department said.
