What's new at MU? 

  • Mumbai University 1st merit list 2022 released today, i.e. on June 29. It will be followed by the second and third merit lists on July 7 and July 14, respectively. Read notification here.
  • Mumbai University admission 2022-23 for distance and open learning is now open. Candidates can apply till July 30
  • Mumbai University extended the deadline for filling up and submitting Mumbai University admission form 2022 and pre-admission online enrollment form for UG programmes until June 25. the previous deadline was June 20.
  • MHCET Law 2022 dates for five-year LLB and three-year LLB revised once again and the last date of application was extended till June 22, 2022.
  • University of Mumbai conducted MUCMET 2022 exam on May 31 in online mode. MUCMET exam is conducted for admission to the BMS+MBA (Integrated) programme. Earlier, the exam was scheduled for May 21, 2022, but due to an unforeseen situation, the exam got postponed. 

Mumbai University admission 2022 is completely merit and entrance-based for all its UG, PG and doctoral level courses. MU admission was completed successfully for the 2021 session followed by the release of its first, second and third merit list for UG admission on August 17, 25 and 30, respectively, followed by a few more lists. Last year, the sale of UG admission form took place from August 5 to August 14 and the online submission of admission forms along with the pre-enrolment form took place from August 6 to August 14. MU 

Mumbai University offers over 200 UG, PG, diploma, doctoral, and certificate programmes in various fields, such as Engineering, Arts, Science and Arts. All these are offered via over 50 Departments, 12 specialised centres, 781 affiliated colleges, two main campuses, two sub-campuses and two Model Colleges. This 160-year old University also offers education via distance learning from its Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL Mumbai University).

Mumbai University Admission 2022: Highlights

MU admission process usually begins in the last week of May every year. But MU 2021 admission saw a delay because of the ongoing pandemic. The admission process for the academic year 2021-22 started on August 5 for UG courses and on August 12 for PG courses. Informally known as Mumbai University (MU), it has seen a 104% increase in undergraduate students and is considered one of the largest universities in the world in terms of the number of students.

Post filling up of Mumbai University application form 2022, candidates are required to wait for the Mumbai University merit list 2022. Those who clear the merit lists released by the university’s colleges must report to the college for document verification and counselling. Mumbai University merit list is be based on the marks scored by the candidates in the entrance test.

  • The University releases three to four merit-lists based on the different categories of the candidates and programmes
  • Candidates who manage to clear the merit-lists must report to the college for document verification and counselling procedure
  • Mumbai University merit-list is based on the marks scored by candidates in the entrance test/ last qualifying exam
  • Once the document verification process is completed, candidates can submit the admission fee and claim their seat

Mumbai University Scholarships 2022

The following scholarships are offered to the PG level students of the University of Mumbai:

1. Financial assistance to the students representing backward classes: A provision of Rs 10 lakh is marked to render financial assistance to the students belonging to the Backward Class (SC/ ST/ NT/ DT and SBC) studying at various departments of the University.

2. Financial assistance to the needy students: A provision of Rs 1 crore (Rupees One Crore) as corpus fund is made since 2004-05 to render financial assistance to needy students belonging to the economically backward class studying at various affiliated colleges/ institutions/ departments of the university.

3. Book Bank Scheme: Every year the University renders financial assistance to the affiliated Colleges to run the Book Bank scheme for the Backward Class students.

4. Group Insurance Scheme: In 2001-2002, the University introduced a Group Insurance Scheme in collaboration with National Insurance Company Limited known as YUVA RAKSHA for students from the affiliated colleges/ institutions and University departments.

5. Government Scholarships: A number of government scholarships are also offered to the student studying at University affiliated colleges/ institutions and departments:

  • Government of India scholarship/ freeship to SC/ST/DT/NT/SBC category students: Students whose parents have an income less than Rs 1 lakh per annum an eligible to get the freeships
  • Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Merit Scholarship: This is offered to 100 students for higher education within India. For eg: Further education at IIM/ IIT etc.
  • Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Merit Scholarship: This is offered to 10 students for UG/ PG (8 + 2) students for aboard education.

It is a time-saving university by correspondence.

Placements: It is a correspondence course. The highest salary offered is Rs. 6,000 per month, and the lowest salary offered is Rs. 4,000 per month. In this lockdown situation, I didn't get any updates about placements. Roles offered in our course are good, like in accounts.

Infrastructure: Our university's infrastructure is in good shape and well-maintained. It helps in concentrating well on studies without getting distracted. Even the environment and setting of the university are surrounded by the beauty of nature that cal...

It is a good choice for learning and improving your personality.

Placements: Companies which visited here for placements were Zomato, Swiggy, Airtel, Vodafone, etc. Jobs offered were mostly related to the BPO sector. I am not sure about how many students got placed, and I suggest you check our college website for that. BMS or BMM is a good course to opt for. Mostly, students found jobs outside the college or opt for postgraduation.

Placements: Placements are offered only for students who choose the major subject as economics or have a double minor with economics as one of the two subjects. Many students opt for further studies and don't opt for placements. Between 50%-60% of the students get placed from our course. The highest salary package offered was 15 LPA. Internships are comparatively easy to get from the second year as our college placement cell plays an important role in providing internships.
