Mumbai University Semester Exams 2022: Mumbai University has announced that semester V exams for the final-year students have been postponed. The varsity said that it will release the detail scheduled after Diwali. While a circular to this effect is yet to be released, it will be done after the board of examinations' meeting.

The move comes after senate members affiliated to Yuva Sena gheraoed the acting director (board of examinations and evaluations), Prasad Karande, in his office on Wednesday and sought postponement of exams. Several students from various colleges also urged the university authorities to postpone the exam and gathered near exam Bhavan.

Students from more than five city colleges have reached out to MU seeking exam postponement as they claimed that they did not get enough time to practice for a written test in the long-form pattern. Some students claimed that since they have given only online exams with multiple-choice questions (MCQs) for the last two years they have lost the practice of writing exam. An official said "Karande has given assurance to the students and students' organisation. A meeting will be held and a decision taken within four days."

The students said while offline classes finally resumed at the beginning of this academic year, there wasn’t enough time for them to prepare for the examination. “Covid-19 had brought offline learning to a halt and even exams were conducted online. We have not had adequate time to practice and prepare for the offline examination, which will include long-form answers to be written on paper,” mentioned the letter that was sent by the students to Mumbai University’s examination department.

It also added that "since the time-table of the exam was out only recently, the varsity failed to give them adequate notice of at least a month to prepare for the exam."
