The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay announced reservation policy for admissions through Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) 2026, to be held on January 18, 2026. The reservation policy is applicable to MDes, PhD courses in participating government institutes like IITs and Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru.

This year also reservation structure is same what was previous year, in line with Government of India reservation policy for admission to higher education institutions.

IIT Bombay has announced reservation policy for CEED 2026 admissions to MDes and PhD programmes. CEED 2026 Brochure confirm that category-wise quotas will remain unchanged from last year.

The CEED reservation policy remains same, which is applicable to all participating IITs and IISc Bengaluru, to allocate seats under GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and PwD categories, as well as supernumerary seats for women. CEED 2026 examination will be held on January 18, 2026.

No change in CEED reservation policy for 2026

As per the official brochure released by IIT Bombay, the reservation for CEED admissions includes 27% of seats for candidates from the Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL), 15% for Scheduled Castes (SC), 7.5% for Scheduled Tribes (ST), and 10% for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS). Additionally, a five per cent horizontal reservation is provided for persons with benchmark disabilities (PwD) across all categories.

Several participating institutes have also confirmed the provision of supernumerary seats for female candidates as part of their gender diversity initiatives. While each institute publishes its own admission notification, all will adhere to the specified reservation percentages. Candidates applying under reserved categories will have to produce valid certificates during the admission process.

Certificates for OBC-NCL and EWS had to be issued after April 1, 2025, while PwD candidates must have a minimum of 40 per cent disability to qualify for the quota.
