Is verified DigiLocker account compulsory

No, as per the latest official update, IIT Madras now allows GATE 2027 registration with an unverified DigiLocker account. Select the default ID proof on the GOAPS portal and continue. Once the form is submitted, your documents will be checked later in application under scrutiny. 

Is PAN card mandatory for GATE 2027 registration

No specific document is mandatory. GATE 2027 DigiLocker folder doesn’t need you to upload anything for General and OBC-NCL or EWS candidates. Candidates can select one verified ID (Aadhar/PAN/APAAR ID/Driving License) with correct and updated details.

Showing “Verification Failed” while filling form

This usually happens because of consent settings. While selecting the documents for verification fetching, set the consent validity to three years and mention the purpose, as verification in the last query. Make sure the consent is active before retrying on GOAPS.

Can we change any details if the form is filled but payment is not done

Yes, candidates can log in and change the details they want to. But this is only possible if payment is not completed. Once GATE exam fee is paid, candidates can only edit at the time of correction.

What option should candidates select under the OBC category in GATE 2027 form

If any candidate falls under the OBC category and has a valid non-creamy layer certificate, then select OBC-NCL.
