JEE Advanced 2021 likely to be postponed, says education experts

JEE Advanced 2021: IIT Kharagpur has postponed the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Advanced 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic across the country. The revised dates will be are announced by the exam conducting authority later.

Earlier, the JEE Advanced 2021 was scheduled to be held on June 3. Soon after the postponement of JEE Main April and May sessions, there were speculations that the entrance exam may also postpone. JEE Advanced can be conducted only after the declaration of the final JEE Main result. This year, four sessions of JEE Main were to be held of which only two have been conducted so far.

โ€œConsidering the prevailing pandemic situation due to COVID-19, JEE (Advanced) 2021 which was scheduled to be held on July 03, 2021 (Saturday) stands postponed. The revised date of examination will be announced at an appropriate time," the notice available on the official website reads.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has doubled the JEE Main attempts for relaxation to students because of COVID-19. However, the second wave of the pandemic has put the April and May sessions of the exam on hold. The remaining two sessions were postponed till further notice.

So far, the NTA has not announced the JEE Main exam dates. It is likely that the exam will be conducted in July and August. The new JEE Advanced 2021 dates will depend on JEE Main. Only those who get a rank in the top 2.5 lakh of JEE Main will be shortlisted to appear for JEE Advanced.
