JEE Main 2020 is scheduled to be held from July 18-23 in computer-based mode. But with the spike in Coronavirus cases across India, educationists have demanded to cancel all the national level entrance test including JEE Main 2020. They are also proposing the officials to offer admission based on alternative assessments to the students.

Speaking to a popular news media, Dr R Murali, Tamil Nadu Secretary, Save Higher Education Movement said, “Everyone is under distress during this COVID19 pandemic and the cases are only expected to increase in July and August. An examination for crores of students across the country would be impossible to be held safely. At least for this one year, the exams must be scrapped for students' sake.” He more added that students are facing stress during this pandemic.

Another educationist V Jayendran Mani, President, Tirunelveli Matriculation Schools Association also said that postponement until COVID-19 cases come down is also not an option since it will only affect the mental health of students. The students can instead be admitted based on their board exam scores than entrance exams.”

National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to release the JEE Main 2020 admit card 15 days prior to the entrance test i.e. by July 4, 2020. The authority has closed the application form of JEE Main 2020 on May 24. The HRD Minister, Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal has set up National Abhyaas for aspirants preparing for the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main 2020 and the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2020 to help students to prepare for these exams efficiently and is available on android and iOS platform.
