NTA has started the JEE main 2024 April 5 shift 1 exam. Candidates have entered the exam hall and the gates are now closed.

JEE Main 2024 exam time is as follows:

• Shift 1 starts at 9 am. Shift 2 starts at 3 pm
• Shift 1 ends at 12 noon and shift 2 ends at 6 pm.
• Reporting time for shift 1 is 07:20 AM - 08:30 AM. Reporting time for shift 2 is 01:20 PM - 02:30 PM.
• Entre gate closing time for shift 1 is 8:30 AM and for shift 2 entry gates will close at 02:30 PM.

The shift 1 exam for JEE Main 2024 on April 5 will be starting at 9 am. The exam will end at 12 noon.

JEE Main April 2024 exam for day 2 begins at 9 am. NTA will conduct the examination with three hour duration. JEE Main 2024 will be held in two shifts. The first shift of JEE Main 2024 exam will start at 9 am and conclude at 12 noon. The second shift of JEE Main 2024 exam will commence at 3 pm to close at 6 pm at various exam centres across the India.

Exam officials are not responsible for the safekeeping personal belongings of the candidates. No locker facility is provided at the JEE Main 2024 exam centres. Candidates must avoid carrying any personal belongings to the exam centre.

Shoes/footwear with thick soles and garments with large buttons are NOT permitted at the JEE Mains exam centre.

Candidates are NOT allowed to carry any other personal belongings, including electronic devices, or mobile phones to the JEE Main 2024 session 2 exam centre. Examination Officials will not be responsible for the safekeeping of personal belongings and there will be no facility.

Before reaching the JEE Main exam centre, candidates must enter the required details in the Self Declaration (Undertaking) in legible handwriting, paste the Photograph, and put a thumb impression at the appropriate place on the Admit Card. They should ensure that their Left-Hand Thumb Impression is clear and not smudged.

Those candidates who did not register through the Digi Locker / ABC ID (or chose authentication through non-Aadhaar options), need to report early on the day of the JEE main 2024 exam (at least 1 hour earlier) to get their Biometrics recorded at the Exam Centre.

NTA will be holding JEE Mains 2024 session 2 exam in two shifts today. Shift 1 from 9 am to 12 pm and shift 2 from 3 pm to 6 pm.

With the JEE Mains session 2 result, NTA will publish the JEE Main ranks of the candidates and the JEE Main cutoff for JEE Advanced exam to be held on May 26.

Candidates must download the JEE Mains session 2 admit card for the April 5 exam. NTA has released the JEE Mains session 2 admit card for all days of the exam. The candidates have to carry a printed copy of the admit card to get entry at the JEE Main 2024 exam centre.

JEE Mains shift 1 exam will start at 9 am on April 5, today. The shift 1 exam will go on for 3 hours and end at 12 noon sharp.

NTA has recorded as many as 12.57 registrations for April session of JEE Mains 2024 exam. In the past year of JEE Mains exam, April 2023 session encountered a total of 9.31 lakh registrations.

Candidates are allowed to carry only the below mentioned items inside the JEE Main 2024 exam hall:

• Personal transparent water bottle.
• A simple transparent ballpoint pen.
• Admit Card downloaded from NTA website (a clear printout on A4 size paper) duly filled in.
• Additional 01 passport-size photograph for pasting on the Attendance Sheet.
• Original valid ID proof.

JEE Main 2024 session 2 exam date is April 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 12. The BE/BTech paper date is April 4, 5, 6, 8, and 9. The BArch/ BPlan paper will be held in one shift on April 12.

Details mentioned in the JEE Main hall ticket 2024 Session 2 are applicant’s name, application number, roll number, father's name, course name, date of birth, gender, category, state of eligibility, candidate's photograph, PwD Status, test city and centre code, date and shift of examination, Paper (BE/BTech/BArch/B.Planning), photograph of the candidate, candidate and parent signature and important instructions.

Chemistry was Easy to Moderate. Inorganic & Organic Chemistry had more weightage as compared to Physical Chemistry. JEE Main 2024 April 4 Shift 1 was balanced. Questions from organic chemistry were tricky. Topics in Maths asked were 2D and 3D geometry, circles, vector, sets, relations and functions, etc.

•  There were total 90 questions and the Total marks for JEE Main Paper-1 was 300. (5 out of 10 questions were to be attempted from the Numerical Based section in each subject).
•    In terms of order of Difficulty – Overall, this paper was of Moderate level as per students in all three subjects.
• Students were given booklet for rough work.
• There was tight invigilation as per students.
• No errors were reported in the question papers.

As per the initial student reaction after the JEE Main April 4 shift 2 exam, Chemistry was theoretical and Physics was formula-based.

• In Maths, the questions came from 3D vectors and differential equations.
• Physics had questions from units and dimensions, optics, gravitation, semiconductors, logic gates, current electricity, electrostatics, centre of mass.
• In Chemistry, questions came from solutions, chemical equilibrium, and coordination compounds.

As per the students, the shift 2 of today's exam was easier than shift 1 exam held today from 9 am to 12 noon.

• The paper was more difficult than the January session.
• Overall paper was moderate.
• The paper was balanced the weightage from classes 11 and 12 was equal.
• As compared to the January session the paper was easier in this shift.
• Maths was doable but lengthy.
• Physics and Chemistry were easy.
• The shift 2 exam today was easier than the shift 1.

The gates of exam centre for JEE Main 2024 shift 2 exam today will close at 2:30 pm and the exam will start at 3 pm.

NTA has followed the same level of difficulty of Phase-2 as compared to the one asked in Phase-1. The JEE MAIN paper of April 4, 2024 (Morning Shift) was of Moderate level due to the lengthy questions in Maths. In this paper, Physics was on the easier side whereas Chemistry was also on the easy to moderate side. In this paper, Mathematics was on moderate to difficult side with lengthy and calculative questions. A detailed subject wise analysis is given below.

Chemistry: Chemistry paper was more or less balanced in terms of difficulty level as well as the number of questions from the three sections. Questions from prominent chapters like Chemical Kinetics, Alcohol, Phenol and Ethers, Electrochemistry, Thermodynamics were asked. P-Block chemistry was dominant in the paper. Overall coverage of the chapters was uniform. Among 11th and 12th classes, more number of questions were asked from 12th class syllabus. The paper was by and large based on NCERT books.

Physics: Physics part was on easier side and questions from almost all the chapters were asked. Questions from Modern Physics, Mechanics, Electrostatics and Current electricity were there in the paper. The coverage of the questions was almost equal with more number of questions asked from 12th class.

Mathematics: Mathematics paper was moderate to difficult level. A good number of questions were asked from Calculus. Integer type questions were lengthy in the paper. Almost all the topics were covered. The main thing is questions were both lengthy and calculative which took a lot of time to solve.

In short, it was a decent paper with Mathematics being the toughest among all due to the lengthy part. The difficulty level wise order according to a large section of students is Mathematics > Chemistry > Physics

• In terms of order of Difficulty –Mathematics was Moderate while Physics & Chemistry were Easy. Overall, this paper was of Moderate level as per students.

• Mathematics – Moderate. Questions were asked from all chapters with emphasis on Chapters of Calculus & Algebra. More than one question asked from Vectors, 3 D Geometry, Differential Equations & Conic Sections. In Calculus, questions asked from Functions, Continuity & Differentiability, Definite Integral ,Area, Differential Equations. In Algebra- Probability, Binomial Theorem, Complex Numbers, Permutation & Combination, Statistics, Progressions, Matrices & Determinants. In Coordinate Geometry, questions asked from Parabola, Ellipse & Hyperbola with mixed concepts. The Numerical Section had lengthy calculations. A few questions were reported as Lengthy & Tricky.
• Physics – Easy . Questions asked from Kinematics, Gravitation, Circular Motion, Heat & Thermodynamics, Magnetism-2 questions, Wave Optics,  Current Electricity-2 questions, Electrostatics, Modern Physics, Semi-Conductors. Both MCQs & Numerical based questions were Lengthy but Easy. Few fact-based questions from class XII chapters of NCERT were also asked. Students felt Physics section was Balanced as per Coverage of Chapters.
• Chemistry – Easy. Organic & Physical Chemistry was given more weightage compared to Inorganic Chemistry. Questions asked from Electrochemistry, Thermodynamics, Atomic Structure, Chemical Bonding- 2 questions, General Organic Chemistry-2 questions, Alcohol, Ether & Phenol, Amines, Aryl & Alkyl halides mixed concept type questions, Coordination Compounds, Stoichiometry, Periodic Table. Some questions were directly asked from NCERT Textbook, which made this section Easy.

The JEE Main 2024 April 4 shift 2 exam will start at 3 pm. The shift 1 exam was held from 9 am to 12 noon today. The paper in shift 1 was moderate in difficulty level.

Experts feel that if compared with the January session, the physics section in the JEE Mains 2024 April 4 shift 1 exam was more difficult.
