JEE Main 2025 April 2 Live Updates: The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the JEE Main 2025 April 2 exam today. The JEE Main April 2 shift 1 paper was held from 9 am to 12 pm, and the JEE Main 2025 April 2 Shift 2 was held from 3 pm to 6 pm. As per the student in JEE Main 2025 April 2 shift 1 and 2 exam, frisking in the exam centre was very strict. Candidates are not allowed to wear shoes in the exam hall, and also no candidate is allowed to enter the exam centre after the gate closing time. Candidates must bring their original ID card for verification.

NTA will hold JEE Main 2025 April session exam on April 3, 4, 7, 8 and 9. Day 1 of the exam was held today, April 2.     A:

    NTA will announce the JEE Main 2026 exam date for session 2 in November. JEE Main 2026 session 2 exam will likely be held in the first week of April. JEE Main 2026 session 2 registration will start in February first week. The JEE Main Application Form 2026 session 2 will be available on the website jeemain.nta.nic.in. The JEE 2026 session 1 exam will be conducted in January last week.

    Q:   Will there be any break in JEE Main 2026 exam?
    A:

    The total duration of JEE Main exam is 3 hours and the exam is conducted continuous without any break. Candidates have to enter the exam hall as per the scheduled time and can leave exam hall only after the completion of paper. The exam will have a total of 75 questions from 3 subjects, Physics Chemistry and Mathematics.

    Q:   Are calculators allowed inside exam centre in JEE Main exam?
    A:

    Students are not allowed to carry calculators inside the exam centre in JEE Main exam. Students can use the virtual calculator available on the screen during the exam. Virtual calculators will be available on the computer screen of students during the JEE Main exam.

    JEE Main 2025 April exam live: What to carry at JEE Main 2025 exam centre?

    Candidates have to carry the below items:

    • Self-Declaration Undertaking: Candidates will have to carry a printed copy of the self-declaration undertaking, which is a part of admit card downloaded from NTA’s website.

    • Ball Point Pen: This time candidates have to carry a ballpoint pen to the exam hall.

    • Photograph: Candidates are also requested to carry one passport-size photograph to the test centre. This should be the same as uploaded while filling the online application form. The photograph needs to be pasted on a specific space in the attendance sheet at the examination hall.

    • Any one of the authorized photo IDs (must be original, valid and non-expired) –

      • PAN card

      • Driving license

      • Voter ID

    • Candidates with the JEE Main 2025 exam on April 2 in shift 2 must make sure to bring their JEE Main 2025 admit card.
    • Candidates will need to show anyone of the following types of ID with the JEE Main 2025 admit card - a school ID, PAN card, driving license, voter ID, passport, Aadhaar card with your photo, EAadhaar with photo, ration card with a photo, Class XII board admit card with a photo, or a bank passbook with your photo.
    • Additionally, candidates are needed to bring a passport-sized photo that matches the one they uploaded with their application. This is for the attendance sheet at the exam center. 
    • Candidates also have to fill out the Self Declaration (Undertaking) form, downloaded with the admit card, with complete details filled.

    • Part-I- Physics had total 30 questions – Sec-I had 20 Multiple choice questions with Single correct answers & Sec-II had 5 Numerical based questions all had to be attempted. Marking scheme for multiple choice questions was +4 for correct response, -1 for incorrect response, 0 if not attempted. Marking scheme for numerical based questions was +4 for correct response and 0 in all other cases. Total marks of this section were 100.
    • Part-II- Chemistry had total 30 questions – Sec-I had 20 Multiple choice questions with Single correct answers & Sec-II had 5 Numerical based questions and all had to be attempted. Marking scheme for multiple choice questions was +4 for correct response, -1 for incorrect response, 0 if not attempted. Marking scheme for numerical based questions was +4 for correct response, -1 for incorrect response and 0 in all other cases. Total marks of this section were 100.
    • Part-III- Mathematics had total 30 questions – Sec-I had 20 Multiple choice questions with Single correct answers & Sec-II had 5 Numerical based questions all had to be attempted. Marking scheme for multiple choice questions was +4 for correct response, -1 for incorrect response, 0 if not attempted. Marking scheme for numerical based questions was +4 for correct response, -1 for incorrect response and 0 in all other cases. Total marks of this section were 100.
    • Questions covered almost all chapters of Class XI & XII CBSE Board. Students felt paper was Balanced but Lengthy.

    The level of difficulty as per feedback from students on 2nd April 2025 (Forenoon Session).

    • Mathematics – Moderate. The paper had a strong focus on Calculus, Coordinate Geometry, and Algebra. Some students noted that Vector and 3D Geometry questions were present but not difficult. A few lengthy calculations in certain questions made time management crucial, but the overall difficulty was balanced. The Numerical Section had lengthy calculations.
    • Physics – Moderate. More weightage given to Mechanics, Electrostatics & Current Electricity. Chapters included Kinematics, Gravitation, Rotational Motion, SHM, Laws of Motion, Magnetism, Ray Optics, Modern Physics, Work Power & Energy, Heat & Thermodynamics.     • In terms of order of Difficulty – Physics was Moderately tricky, Mathematics was Moderate & Lengthy, and Chemistry was Easy. Overall, this paper was of Moderate level as per students.

    Students were given a booklet for rough work. There was tight invigilation as per students. No errors were reported in the question papers so far.

    According to the official JEE Advanced 2025 website, the counselling process for JEE Main and JEE Advanced 2025 will begin on June 3. The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is responsible for conducting the counselling, which is aimed at allocating seats for undergraduate engineering programs across prestigious institutions like IITs, NITs, IIEST, IIITs, and other GFTIs. While admission to IITs is determined by JEE Advanced ranks, other participating colleges assign seats based on JEE Main ranks. JoSAA will manage the seat allocation for 121 institutes, including 23 IITs, 31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs, and 40 other GFTIs.
