This means, this year, for the general category candidates, the expected JEE Main 2025 cutoff for JEE Advanced will be around 94 percentile. This is based on the initial reaction of the students and the day 1 analysis of the JEE Main 2025 April session exam by the experts. A clearer analysis of the JEE Main 2025 cutoff for JEE Advanced will be available when the exams scheduled for all days and shifts of the April session are over.

Based on expert opinions, here are the expected JEE Main 2025 cutoff percentile for each category required for JEE advanced 2025 is as follows:

  • Gen - 94 percentile
  • EWS - 85 percentile
  • OBC - 82 percentile
  • SC - 65 percentile
  • ST - 54 percentile

In the January 2025 session of the JEE Main 2025 exam, there were more candidates from the OBC category (Other Backward Classes) who registered and participated compared to those from the general category. This difference in numbers could influence the cutoff scores needed for qualifying for the JEE Advanced exam, particularly for OBC candidates. Out of all the candidates who take the JEE Main, around 2.5 lakh of the top performers will be eligible to take the JEE Advanced exam.

The JEE Main 2025 session 1 results were announced on February 11. In session 1 this year, only 14 students achieved a perfect score of 100 percentile, which is a decrease from the previous year when 23 students reached the same level in the first session and 56 in the second session. In 2023, there were 20 students with top scores in the first session and 43 in the second. It’s worth mentioning that the January 2025 exam was considered harder than last year's, which may explain the smaller number of top scorers this time.
