JEE Main 2026 Jan 23 Shift 2 Exam Analysis

JEE Main 2026 Paper Analysis: National Test Agency concluded JEE Main 2026 January 23 session 1 day 3 exam. Initial JEE Main shift 2 paper reviews and student reactions are available now. In JEE Mains 2026 Jan 23 shift 2, Chemistry was moderate and had many statement-based questions. Physics was tough and very lengthy with JEE Advanced-level questions. Maths was also lengthy and tough. It took time for students to complete papers.

As per the JEE Main 2026 Jan 23 shift 2 paper analysis, experts feel that the cutoff may drop this year. In all shifts, 99 percentile will correspond to 180 marks and not more. This time, NTA started JEE Main exam on January 21 and it will continue till January 29 for session 1. The exam is being held in two shifts: 9 am t0 12 noon and 3 to 6 pm.

According to JEE Main exam analysis based on student feedback, shift 2 paper was moderate to difficult. 

• Physics: Students described the Physics section as difficult, with a broad range of topics and questions that required solid concept clarity and problem-solving skills.
• Chemistry: Students found this section lengthy and moderate.
• Mathematics: A recurring theme among test-takers was lengthy and time-intensive Mathematics section, which included calculations across calculus, coordinate geometry, algebra and vectors, testing both speed and accuracy.

Overall, many examinees felt that time management was crucial, particularly in Mathematics and Physics, where lengthy problem solving could influence attempts and accuracy.

JEE Main 2026 Jan 23 Shift 2 Student Reactions

Day 3 of JEE Main 2026 followed a pattern similar to earlier sessions, with variation in difficulty between shifts.

• Shift 1 (morning) was widely reported as moderate and lengthy with an even mix of question types across subjects.
• Shift 2 (afternoon) continued the trend of moderate difficulty, as per students.
