However, generally, the closing ranks for admission to NITs through JEE Main are in the range of a few thousand to several tens of thousands, depending on the institute and the specific branch.

Closing rank is different even for the courses/engineering branches offered within an IIT. But overall, students must have a JEE Advanced rank within the top 30,000 to have a seat in any of the IITs across the country. The closing ranks can range from a few hundred to several thousand, depending on factors like the number of available seats, the performance of candidates, and the category (General, OBC, SC, ST, etc. ) of the candidates.

The lowest Joint Entrance Examination Advanced rank which gets an Indian Institutes of Technology seat varies every year depending on the number of seats available and the number of candidates who have applied. It also depends on the category of the students like General, Other Backward Classes-Non Creamy Layer, Schedule Caste, Schedule Tribe, EWS, and PwD. However, In JEE Advanced 2022, the lowest rank to get a seat was around 15000 for the Open category. Students from reserved categories or PwD candidates can secure a seat with a lower rank. It's important to note that getting a seat in IITs is highly competitive and the cutoff ranks for each category are subject to change from year to year.

It is possible for a candidate to secure a seat in an NIT (National Institute of Technology), although it may not guarantee his or her preferred branch or institute.
