MHT CET 2025 students, parents demanding transparency amid allegations of a scam.

In a recent development, that has caused major concern among students allegations of irregularities in MHT CET 2025 merit list have surfaced, following which State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra has issued an official clarification.

A video circulating on social media platforms claim a potential scam in merit list, highlighting discrepancies between CET scores and HSC exam performances. However, CET Cell has responded and has urged candidates and parents not to believe in "baseless allegations."

Controversy began with a viral video in which a person alleges, "I think a very big scam is going on. We have already seen the scam of NEET but here in our Maharashtra CET this is a very big scam. All students and teachers should pay attention to it. Look at the merit list carefully, rank number 1 student has 100% in his or her CET but he will get stuck only with 12th grade PCM. Rank no 2 also gets 100%. Rank no 3 also has a very low percentile. Rank number 5 again gets 55%. So he will get stuck with 12th grade PCM and 100% in CET. I feel that it is impossible to do anything about this."

These claims have raised eyebrows, especially given context of recent NEET scam, causing concern over integrity of MHT CET 2025 results. Video suggests a pattern where top CET performers have low scores in their HSC exams, particularly in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM).

Clarification from State CET Cell, Mumbai

Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test Cell has issued a detailed clarification on this issue, it states: "It alleges that, in the provisional merit list for BE/B. Tech, that 2-3 Candidates have scored 100% Percentile in CET 2025 while they have scored lower scores in HSC exams. Therefore, it is abnormal. In this regard, it is informed that there is a difference between calculation between percentile and percentage. The method of calculation is declared before the CET exams and the candidates are well versed with it. The performance of a candidate in CET cannot be Compared with his/her Performance in HSC exam as candidates focus the effort and study on CET exams as it is eligibility test for admission.”

Q:   Are calculators allowed in MHT CET exam?
A:

Calculators are not allowed in MHT CET exam. However, you will get virtual calculator during the exam which can be used to solving lengthy calculations. Virtual calculator is available on computer screen during test and can be used by clicking on calculator link. Practice numerical questions to avoid virtual calculator as much as you can since these calculators can take much time.

CET Cell further elaborated, "In CET 2025 results, there were 22 Candidates across 15 sessions who have scored 100 Percentile. Out of these 22 Candidates, only 8 Candidates have applied for the CAP process. It means that others have opted for other higher education institutes such as IITs and NITs. Therefore, they were toppers in both the exams. Further, other candidates have scored more than 95% Percentile in JEE (Main), however they have considerably lower Percentile in CET exam. Other Candidates have high JEE (Main) Percentile score against low HSC score. Therefore, such selective comparison is futile, useless and more so irresponsible. Such baseless allegations cast doubt on the performance of hard-working candidates."
