Ahead of DUSU elections 2025, Delhi University VC Yogesh Singh urges students to reject candidates who use excessive posters, promoting clean and eco-friendly campaigning on campus.

With the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections approaching, Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh has urged students to avoid voting for candidates who use excessive printed posters during campaigning. Addressing a sensitization programme under Swachhata Hi Seva 2025 for NSS volunteers and NCC cadets, he said such a decision by students would discourage defacement and littering on campus.

Prof. Singh emphasised that the drive for sensitization should not be limited to August 1–15 but continue year-round, focusing on both environmental cleanliness and personal integrity. “Sensitization alone is not enough; our minds should also be clean,” he said, adding that Delhi University’s reputation rests on the conduct of its students.

The programme, attended by DU Registrar Dr. Vikas Gupta, Dean of Colleges Prof. Balram Pani, and other officials, also included a pledge against drug addiction. Prof. Singh drew parallels with environmental challenges such as Yamuna river pollution, stressing the role of youth in shaping a developed India.

With the 2025 DUSU polls expected to witness intense campaigning, the VC’s appeal highlights the need for eco-friendly election practices on campus.
