Kerala Plus One admission procedures are all set to commence by the first week of July. The department of education has decided to plan the admission schedule ensuring the CBSE students get equal opportunities as well. The results for Higher Secondary are expected to be out on June 21 after which a high-level meeting of the General Education Department will be convened to formulate a plan.

Last year, the education department had to reorganize the batches due to the rise in the number of students who secured A+ in all subjects. The General Education Department has clarified that all eligible students will be granted admission to Plus One. This year, 4,23,303 students have become eligible for higher studies. There are 3,61,307 Plus One seats available at present. There are 33,000 seats available in VHSE, 64,000 in ITI and 9000 seats in polytechnic colleges.

In the districts of Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki and Ernakulam, there are more Plus One seats available than the students who have passed class 10. Last year, the department increased 33,150 seats temporarily due to uncertainty in the number of seats needed. In the previous years, the seats have been increased by almost 20 per cent.

Single Window Admission

Kerala Higher Secondary School Teachers Union General Secretary Abdul Jaleel pointed out that the admission procedure will be made easy by carrying out the school combination transfers and supplementary allotments based on common merit. Teachers have come forward demanding resolution for the inadequacies of the Single Window System for Higher Secondary Admissions. Since school combination transfer and supplementary allotments were not conducted, students with high WPGI are unable to secure admission at desired schools for desired combination courses.
