The Supreme Court hearing on the CLAT 2025 matter, originally scheduled for May 6, has been postponed to May 7, 2025. A division bench comprising Justice B.R. Gavai and Justice A.G. Masih deferred the case, which was listed as item number 56 in the supplementary cause list. The petition has been filed by Siddhi Sandeep Ladda against the Consortium of National Law Universities and others, challenging aspects of the CLAT UG 2025 process.

The Supreme Court is likely to begin the CLAT Result hearing soon. The Division Bench at court no. 2 is currently hearing Item no. 33 at 2 PM as per the hearing schedule for the day.

According to the general reservation criteria, the allocation of seats is as follows:​

• Scheduled Castes (SC): 15% of seats​
• Scheduled Tribes (ST): 7.5% of seats​
• Other Backward Classes (OBC) - Non-Creamy Layer: 27% of seats​
• Economically Weaker Sections (EWS): 10% of seats​
• Persons with Disabilities (PwD): 5% of seats (horizontal reservation across all categories)​
• Women Candidates: Some NLUs offer a certain percentage of seats reserved for female candidates.​

Siddhi Sandeep Ladda, who secured All India Rank 22 in CLAT 2025 as per the initial results declared on December 7, has filed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) in the Supreme Court. In her petition, she argues that the High Court's judgment has created an unfair disadvantage for candidates who attempted Set A of the CLAT paper, compared to those who attempted Sets B, C, and D.

The Supreme Court of India is scheduled to hear the CLAT 2025 result-related case today, May 5, 2025, following its interim stay on the Delhi High Court's directive to revise the CLAT-UG 2025 merit list.

The Division Bench of the Delhi High Court did not hear the CLAT PG 2025 matters on May 2, 2025, as scheduled. The hearing has now been rescheduled for May 26, 2025. The bench comprising Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela will preside over the case. Currently, three petitions related to CLAT PG 2025 are pending before the court. This marks the second time the Delhi High Court has deferred the CLAT PG hearing. Stay updated with the case proceedings and the revised hearing date.

The counselling fee for CLAT 2025 is INR 30,000 for general/OBC category, and INR 20,000, for SC/ST/OBC/BC/EWS/PWD categories. The CLAT counselling fee can only be paid in online mode on the official website of the law entrance exam. The counselling fee candidate need to pay as a token amount against their allotted seat to secure it. After this, candidates will be required to pay the remaining fee against their course, which is the tuition fee+ non-refundable charges+ refundable charges and more. In case, candidates choose to withdraw / exit from their allotted after they freeze/ float, and have paid the counselling fee, then they will get a refund of their amount after deduction of INR 5,000 from it. However, full amount will be refunded only in case when the candidate did not freeze/ float their allotted seat.

Therefore, it becomes essential for a candidate to score well in the CLAT exam, to get a higher rank in the merit list. Candidates must do CLAT marks versus ranks analysis to understand how the score they have secured can be converted into CLAT 2025 merit rank. CLAT marks versus rank analysis will help candidates get an idea about the expected ranks as per their scores. 

The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) will conduct CLAT 2025 counselling in online mode. The whole counselling process for CLAT is conducted in online mode. Candidates have to register online to participate in the counselling. Eligible candidates who qualify the exam can register on the official website for the counselling. After that, they have to pay fee to complete the registration process. After registration, candidates have to declare choices for college and course seeking admission into. 

During CLAT counselling, candidates will be provided the option to choose from three options; i.e. freeze, float and exit. Candidates can understand all options below:

Freeze Option: In case a candidate is happy with the seat alloted to him/her then they can freeze it. With this they won't be allowed to appear in the further rounds of counselling. If a candidate freezes the seat, it means that the candidate is confirming their seat at the allotted National Law University (NLU).

Float Option: If a candidate is not happy with the seat allotted to them and wants to pariticpate in further rounds of counselling they can select the float option. This option mean that candidate is accepting the seat allotted to them but is willing to pariticpate in further rouns of counselling for a better college. Candidate must note that in case they choose the float option and is allotted a seat in the next round then the seat allotted in the previous round will be forfeited.

Exit Option: During the counselling process, if a candidate feels that they don't want to pariticipate further, then they may choose an option to exit. If they choose this option, it means that they are withdrawing from the counselling process and they will not be considered for further round of counselling. 

CLAT 2025 Invite List refers to the list of qualifying candidates who are eligible to participate in the counselling process. The CLAT 2025 invite list will be declared by the Consortium after the announcement of the CLAT 2025 merit list.

In case, two or more candidates score the same marks in CLAT 2025, the Consortium will follow the sequence given below to decide the merit rank:

The Delhi HC was supposed to begin the hearing of the petitions related to the CLAT PG 2025 on May 2, 2025. The matters, which were scheduled for consideration earlier, did not come up for hearing on April 21, and have since been adjourned to the next available date. A batch of petitions challenging certain questions and the evaluation process of the CLAT PG 2025 exam had been filed before the court, seeking clarity and relief for affected candidates. With Delhi HC not taking up the matter on May 2, 2025, it is likely that the hearing will begin next week.

The revised CLAT 2025 scorecard will include key exam-related details such as the candidate’s name, father’s name, roll number, application number, category (General, OBC, SC, ST, etc.), individual section scores, overall score, All India Rank (AIR), and category-wise rank.

​The CLAT 2025 revised result is expected to be released by the Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) anytime soon. This follows the Delhi High Court's directive issued on April 23, 2025, mandating the Consortium to revise the marksheets and republish the final list of selected candidates within four weeks. However, with SC decision it will be clear if the result will be revised or not since it had put stay on CLAT Result Revision earlier.
