Important Update! SC revises AIBE, CLAT Eligibility Criteria, Check Details Here
SC revises AIBE, CLAT Eligibility Criteria: The Supreme Court has permitted visually impaired students possessing qualifications higher than 10+2 and appearing for AIBE or CLAT exams to have scribes. Read further to know the complete details on the revised AIBE & CLAT eligibility criteria here.
The Supreme Court has notified that visually impaired students can take scribes to the AIBE and CLAT law exams with over 10+2 qualification. Previously, candidates were restricted to have scribes (assistants who write their exams) who had 12th-grade or above education. Now, visually impaired students can choose a scribe with higher qualifications. However, the scribe shall not be a law graduate. This ensures the scribe is capable of handling complex exam instructions and no unfair advantage is provided to any student.
“specially-abled candidates having visual impairment, who are appearing for the All India Bar Examination, are entitled to have the assistance of a scribe, who is an undergraduate and is not pursuing the study of law or any other humanities course. This would necessarily mean that there is no bar on candidates for using a scribe who possesses qualifications of more than 10+2 schooling,” the suggestion endorsed by the Court.
AIBE & CLAT Eligibility Criteria Revised!
The Apex Court, chaired by Chief Justice Surya Kant, has directed the Bar Council of India and the Consortium of National Law Universities to adopt these changes immediately. The official department must officially announce the new rules well before the next exam dates for AIBE and CLAT exams to ensure all candidates have enough time to find a suitable scribe for them. This decision is designed to remove unnecessary problems and provide an equal opportunity for disabled law aspirants.
