NEET PG 2024 SC Hearing Tomorrow: What Are Students Demanding?
Although the Supreme Court hearing for the NEET PG 2024 case is scheduled for tomorrow, stakeholders remain uncertain, as the case, originally filed in September 2024, has faced multiple deferrals for various reasons.
The long pending petion on National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduates (NEET-PG) is now listed for tomorrow i.e. May 6, 2025. On one hand, where the NEET PG 2025 exam date is approaching, there is no clarity on the NEET PG 2024 Supreme Court hearing seeking transparency and release of the answer key. Although the SC hearing date for NEET PG 2024 case is listed for tomorrow, the stakeholders are uncertain as the case, originally filed in September 2024, has been deferred time and again due to several reasons, including non-presence of Government officials, the absence of NBE officials on the hearing date, among others.Β
The Supreme Court recently postponed the matter, which was set for a hearing on April 22. A number of NEET PG applicants filed the plea, claiming that the National Board of Examinations (NBEMS), which administered the NEET PG 2024 exam, had not been transparent or followed the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) during and before the examination.
NEET PG 2025 SC Hearing: Students' Demands
Nineteen NEET PG candidates who were concerned about abrupt changes to the exam schedule just a few days before the NEET PG exam date filed the petition calling for NEET PG 2024 transparency. Concerns about the effects of the procedure's transparency were also raised by the petitioners. Additionally, they insisted that the NBE make the exam's question papers, answer keys, and response sheets available to the candidates.
Β The Apex Court bench, which included Justices JB Pardiwala, Manoj Misra, and CJI CY Chandrachud, stated that the last-minute alterations were "unacceptable" and sent notifications to the Union Government and NBE requesting their explanations. However, as no one from the Central Government showed up for the subsequent hearing on September 30, the petition was postponed.
