NEET PG 2025 in Two Shifts Sparks Controversy; Doctors Demands Single Shift Exam

The decision to conduct the NEET PG 2025 exam on June 15, 2025, in two shifts has caused serious concerns among medicos. Doctors' associations are urging the Union Health Minister to reconsider this two-shift approach to avoid the need for a normalization process and to ensure greater transparency in the exam.
The National Board of Examinations (NBE) has announced the NEET PG 2025 exam date on the official website. The authorities have scheduled the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Post-Graduation (NEET-PG) for June 15, 2025, on a computer-based mode in two shifts. The decision to conduct NEET PG 2025 in two shifts has sparked major concerns as the aspirants and stakeholders are worried about the normalisation process and fairness of the examination.
Being the most anticipated examination for postgraduate medical admissions, NEET PG draws the attention of thousands of stakeholders and the decision to conduct the examination in two shifts has discouraged many aspirants preparing for PG medical admissions.
NEET PG 2025: Doctors Raise Concerns Over Fairness of Two-Shift Exam
While the NBE decision to conduct the examination in two shifts allegedly aims to accomodate a larger number of students, many doctors along with federation and medical activists are raising concerns about the fairness , logistics and normalisation process due to uneven examination condition.
The National President of the Federation of Resident Doctors’ Association (FORDA) said "Well it’s unneeded and completely avoidable given the quantum of students appearing for the exam. They can easily be accommodated in one shift. That would ensure transparency and better execution of the exam. Normalisation of marks is something of the past and should be done away with."
Meanwhile, the patron of the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA), Dr Rohan Krishnan shared on the social media platform 'X' saying " NEET PG examination in Two shifts is not at all acceptable. We had seen strong protests from students as well as multiple court cases & alleged malpractices in the Normalisation of marks."
UDF Appeals to Union Health Minister for Single Shift Exam
The United Doctor Front (UDF) has urged Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, JP Nadda, to reconsider NEET PG 2025 in two shifts and has requested to conduct NEET PG 2025 in a single-day single-shift examination.
National President of UDF, Dr Lakshya Mittal has shared issues arising from the two-shift NEET PG examination and mentioned "The decision by NBEMS to conduct NEET-PG 2025 in two shifts is deeply concerning and needs immediate reconsideration. The normalization process in NEET-PG 2024 led to significant discrepancies, legal challenges, and distress among aspirants. Instead of ensuring a fair evaluation, multiple shifts introduce inconsistencies that compromise the integrity of the examination."
