Rajasthan imposes lockdown on educational institutions: In order to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus, the Rajasthan government decided to imposed a 15-day lockdown in the state and ordered the closure of all educational institutions from today, i.e. April 19 until May 3. Announcing the lockdown, an official statement released by the Rajasthan government said, Called the “Jan Anushasan Pakhwada'' (public discipline fortnight), only shops and offices providing essential services will open during the 15-day period. In order to maintain a connection between teachers and students, the government has asked teachers to work from home and prepare exam results. They have also been asked to stay in touch with the student and continue assessment through the Smile and Smile 2.0 online programmes.

According to the order, people entering Rajasthan will have to show a negative RT-PCR report issued 72 hours prior to the travel. Earlier, the Rajasthan government imposed a night curfew in the entire state from April 16 and declared the closure of all educational and coaching institutes until April 30. The government also ordered the closure of cinema halls, multiplexes and amusement parks.

So far, Rajasthan recorded its biggest single-day spike of 10,514 fresh COVID-19 cases on April 17, pushing the tally to 4,14,869. Meanwhile, following the same steps, universities and educational institutions across the country are also issuing orders regarding their closure until further notice considering the terrifying surge in the COVID-19 cases. Many institutions and schools have shifted the teaching-learning process back to the virtual mode.
