The SC asked the centre that on giving the extra attempt, it will benefit only around 2000 candidates. The SC bench asked the ASG that it was done in the past also then why not it is given in the COVID-19 pandemic times?

The petitioners also presented the chart showing the details regarding the number of candidates who will be benefitted by providing an extra attempt. The SC bench said, β€œWe are not asking to increase the age limit for the exam. Only around 330 candidates will be benefitted by the exemption and some of them will be barred because of the age limit.

The ASV submitted that he is only focusing on the extra attempt and not considering the restriction in the age limit. The court said we need to hear the petitioners first. Senior Advocate Shyam Divan, appeared on the behalf of the petitioner, began his argument with the request that the chart prepared by the petitioner will be mailed to the SC. The bench said it will hear the matter at 2 PM today.
