The Commission changed the SSC GD exam pattern 2022-23. The new exam pattern is summarised as below:

The time allotted to the exam is one hour now instead of 90 minutes earlier. The maximum marks are now increased to 160 from 100. The number of questions has been reduced from 100 to 80 and the marks allotted to one question is increased from one to two marks. Consequently the negative marking for the incorrect answers in increased from 0.25 marks to 0.50 marks.

Review Medical Exam (RME) is conducted only for candidates who produce any medical certificate as evidence of the possibility of an error of judgement in the decision of the medical officer/board who had examined them in DME. A general diary (GD) entry or a daily diary entry is made when any kind of complaint is lodged and the police enter the details in their records. Thereafter, if the police believe that there is some prima facie evidence of a cognizable offence being committed, it is registered as an FIR.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

• If the tie is not resolved, the candidate with more marks in Part-B of CBE is considered first
• If the tie is still not resolved, a candidate who is older in age is considered first
• If the tie is still not resolved, the alphabetical order of candidates’ names are considered
