Central University of Odisha joins list of universities to offer admission via CUCET 2020

To get admission in the Central University of Odisha, candidates will now have to appear for CUCET 2020.

Candidates and students who aspire to get admission in the Central University of Odisha will now have to appear for the Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET) 2020. Through CUCET, students are offered admission to various undergraduate, postgraduate and research programmes which are offered by various central universities.

To appear for CUCET 2020, candidates will have to firstly register and apply online once the notification for the 2020 academic year is released. Students need to however meet the eligibility criteria as set by the universities. The eligibility criteria for each programme and course is different.

CUCET coordinator Professor Pujari said that the Central University of Odisha is inviting applications from all over India for 30 courses which are offered at the varsity. CUCET will be conducted across 112 cities in India.

Vice-Chancellor Professor I Ramabrahmam said that the decision was taken in order to improve the standard of the Central University of Odisha.

“Joining CUCET is to increase diversity and help in building the national character of the central university in true sense," Professor I Ramabrahmam was quoted as saying.

The Vice-Chancellor also stated about the collaborations being made with various industries to improve the standards.

"The Central University of Odisha is entering into agreements with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) and other Navaratna companies for industrial tie-ups,” Professor I Ramabrahmam said.

What is CUCET?

The Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET) is conducted in order to offer students admission to candidates in various and diverse undergraduate, postgraduate and research programmes offered by central universities in India. CUCET is conducted in offline mode i.e. pen and paper test and the entrance exam duration is of two hours. The online registration and filling up of the application forms for CUCET will commence from in the beginning of March, 2020.
