The admissions were conducted through the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) based on CUET UG 2025 scores.

Delhi University has completed the first round of undergraduate (UG) admissions for the academic year 2025–26 with 62,565 students confirming their seats, according to official data released on Wednesday. The data includes 34,014 female and 28,551 male students, reflecting a continued trend of higher female participation in Delhi University’s UG admissions.

A notable highlight of this round is the admission of 949 single girl children and 143 orphan candidates, of whom 77 are girls and 66 are boys. The admissions were conducted through the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) based on CUET UG 2025 scores. DU officials confirmed that out of all confirmed admissions, 16,126 students have frozen their seats, while a large chunk β€” 43,741 candidates β€” have opted for the upgrade option.

As reported by Shiksha.com earlier, the upgrade window has now been opened and will remain active until 4:59 PM on July 25, 2025. Admitted candidates who wish to reorder their programme-college preferences for a possible upgraded allocation in Round 2 can now do so. The vacant seat matrix, reflecting status as of 2:01 PM on July 24, has been published on the official DU website for candidates' reference.

University officials said that the admission process is progressing smoothly, and subsequent rounds will follow the pre-announced CSAS 2025 schedule. The high number of upgrade requests indicates that many candidates are still aiming for their top college-programme preferences. Meanwhile, the university has reiterated its commitment to inclusivity, evident from the admission data of orphans and single girl children under supernumerary quotas.

With strong numbers in the very first round, DU is expected to fill a majority of its UG seats in the early phases. The second round of seat allocations is likely to see significant reshuffling, especially in high-demand colleges and programmes.

Q: Β  Is CUET UG college list released?
A:

NTA will release the CUET UG 2026 college and universities list with the official notification. Candidates preparing for CUET UG 2026 can check the list of CUET accepting colleges 2026. There are expected to be more than 250 universities which will be accepting CUET scores for admission to 2026-27 academic year. Candidates can check the university-wise UG courses and eligibility criteria.

Q: Β  What CUET score is required to take admission in Delhi University?
A:

Most programs require a minimum score of 60% or higher on the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) in order to get admission to Delhi University (DU). In particular, a minimum CUET score of 480 out of a possible 800 is required to get admitted. Although the university takes into account a number of variables throughout the selection process, including extracurricular activities, academic background, and personal statement, reaching this minimal score criterion does not guarantee admission. While the minimum CUET score for each college, subject, and student category may differ, it is generally recommended to strive for a score in the 650–700 range for many DU courses.

Q: Β  How hard is it to get admission in Delhi University for an average student?
A:

The admission process for Delhi University (DU) is extremely competitive, especially for the well known and popular courses and colleges. However, the difficulty level of admission varies depending on the programme a student wishes to get into. Some of the key parameters that define how difficult can be for a student to get into a good DU college with good course:

  • Scores in CUET/ Class 12
  • Category
  • Selection of College + Course combination in the CSAS registration process

Up until 2021, only top scorers of Class 12 were able to get into Hindu, Hansraj, Miranada, SRCC, LSR and other reputed colleges for top courses such as BA (Hons) in Economics/ English/ Political Science, BSc (Hons) Physics/ Chemistry/ Mathematics and BCom (Hons) courses. However, the introduction of CUET has changed the game. Now, even if a student could not do well in Class 12 has a chance of getting into the cream colleges with a good score in CUET.

However, if the dream is just to study in a reputed DU college, there is a basic hack that can be followed by anyone and everyone. All the top colleges of DU offer short-duration certificate courses in Languages and other interest areas. Those who are not able to get into DU can witness the buzz of being a DU student by pursuing these courses. For details on the same, students are advised to visit the official website of the DU affiliated colleges.
