The commission, which will be headed by retired Chief Justice of Delhi High Court, D Murugesan, will study the social and economic background of government school students. It will also identify the challenges faced by them.

If the number of students, who get admitted to courses such as engineering, agriculture, veterinary sciences, fisheries and law from state-run schools, is low, the commission will suggest measures for the same. The committee is required to submit its report to the government within a month. There will be 10 members in the commission, including Murugesan. Senior government officials and the Registrar of Anna University will also be a part of the committee.
