There will be no more parents survey before primary schools reopening in Karnataka
Karnataka Primary and Secondary Education Minister BC Nagesh said that there will be no additional survey conducted before the reopening of the primary schools in the state.
Amid the ongoing demand to reopen primary schools in the state Karnataka Primary and Secondary Education Minister BC Nagesh said that no more surveys of parents will be conducted before reopening the primary schools.
This statement comes after the experts have opposed such surveys as it can further delay the reopening of the primary schools in the state.
He also clarified that so far there is no plan to reduce the syllabus and even the idea of conducting classes on Saturdays and Sundays will be examined to make up for the lost time. Any decision on syllabus reduction will be taken between January and February. Currently, schools remain shut on Saturdays for sanitisation purposes.
As per the minister, the school teachers have been enquiring from parents about their views on school reopening for primary schools and found that many parents want the schools to be reopened soon.
The National Education Emergency Coalition (NCEE), a group of individuals, organisations, and networks across the country that come together to ‘resume and renew’ school education said that more than 95 per cent of rural parents wanted schools to be reopened.
“Parents want their children to access learning opportunities, not available to most during school closure. They want nutritious, hot cooked meals for their children,” the forum said.
There is no official order right now, however, Nagesh said he is optimistic that the schools will reopen soon and he is also going to attend a meeting with Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on this issue.
