The University Grants Commission (UGC)'s official Twitter account was hacked on April 10, which was later restored. As per reports, the unidentified hackers took control of the UGC's Twitter handle- @ugc_india and made several irrelevant posts. The hackers made a series of tweets tagging the followers of UGC.

"In celebration of the reveal of the Beanz Official Collection, we have opened up an airdrop to all active NFT traders in the community for the next 24 hours! Welcome to the Garden," one of the deleted Tweets read.

UGC in an official Tweet announced that "The official account of UGC has been restored." UGC's official Twitter account has over 2,96,000 followers.

Earlier, UGC had directed all the higher education institutions across the country to award degrees to all the successful students within 180 days of eligibility as per the UGC (Grant of Degrees and Other Awards by Universities) Regulations, 2008. The UGC, in a letter to all the vice-chancellors of universities and principals of colleges, also said that it will take punitive actions against universities that fail to award degrees as per the UGC regulation

The UGC has also released draft guidelines on four-year undergraduate programmes (FYUP) that seek to revamp the existing UG curriculum from the next academic session. The FYUP will replace the existing three-year choice-based credit system or CBCS. The commission has invited suggestions by April 4. The draft guidelines titled “Curricular Framework and Credit System for Four-year Undergraduate Programme” propose common introductory courses in natural sciences, humanities and social sciences for the first three semesters, regardless of what the students choose to specialize in.
