Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University provides very liberal entry, because the majority of its programme follows merit basis and hence it admits students after clearing eligibility conditions for most of the programs; that are undergraduate or postgraduate course. Additionally, for the selection process, the university gives 40% weightage to Class 12 marks and 60% weightage to Graduation marks (aggregate marks to the pre-final year).

 For a few courses, such as MA, BA, MLib, etc., admissions are completely based on merit in the last qualifying examination. Students must go through the Panjab University CHD-conducted/ national-level entrances and then appear for the university-level selection rounds for final admission at Panjab University.
