APSET 2018 Eligibility:
Candidates should have secured minimum of 55% marks (without rounding off) in their Masters degree or equivalent exam from any university/college that is recognised by UGC. Aspirants belonging to reserved categories such as OBC (non-creamy layer)/SC/ST/PwD are eligible to apply if they have secured minimum 50% aggregate in their Masters degree or equivalent exam. SRM does not admit students through lateral entry as a matter of rule. It's vacancy based. You need to contact SRM immediately to know the status and then take steps accordingly. Refer attached link also: http://www.srmuniv.ac.in/admission-india/Eligibility/Engineering-and-Technology.

Each institute is authorised for certain intake in each branch by AICTE. No institute can admit students beyond this. Hence lateral entry directly into second year is not guaranteed guaranteed by SRM & its not announced publicly also. I am attaching a link where you can see it.
