Every specialization is in demand in its respective sector, hence ideally you should choose what you enjoy and career interests. The most popular ones are structural, materials, construction and urban engineering. Coastal engineering, environmental engineering are also trending. Australia overall is very good for civil engineers, check if you would be interested if mining engineering too as this is the most sought after.

Hi,
There are many factors to ponder upon like, your finances, choice of course, number of dependents and PR, etc. If you are looking for Master's + Ph.D, then few universities in Canada offer good grant, if they like your research proposal. But, the climatic conditions are very cold in comparison to Australia.
