Hi there!
As this is the era of Information Technology and Computer Science, most of the companies are dedicated in these two fields only which is leading to major employment in this section and that's why there is not so good placements for undergraduates from automobile engineering. There are many other reasons as well but this is the main reason. Hope you got your answer. Thanks & Regards, Rajdeep Sinha.

Hello Adarsh,
Yes, you can. However, it is not the only way. To become a vehicle designer you need to choose a course which specializes in design and dynamics. Therefore, even if you opt for mechanical engineering you can be a designer. You need to master a few design concepts, dynamics of the vehicles, design software and do many projects in that area. That would portray you as a student who is much interested in designing and hence companies would eventually prefer you for the jobs. All the best!

Nowadays, people are switching from B.Tech to management and commerce. It has good opportunities but be ready to face the new subject. And it's always good to listen to your heart than listening to others. Parents may suggest different courses and fields because of concern. M.Tech is a great career if you get into good colleges. Same with MBA. Anyway go through both the course syllabus and details. Then decide considering the job opportunities and importantly your capabilities and interests
Good luck.
