Hi,
I would suggest that you keep your options open and not restrict yourself location wise. Thapar Institute for engineering and technology is a good college with a stable and nice placement records and well versed faculty. My brother is currently studying there and he is always excited by the opportunities the place has to offer. If you are interested, I am putting a link here for your reference which explains this year's admission process. All the best. Choose your future wisely-

In Indian context : not much difference. All the companies which allow CSE also allow IT. So join any of the stream that you get.

If your area of interest is only on game designing and none. So, join Arena Animation. But, it would be better to have a B.Tech degree for future purpose.

Dear Preeti,
Distance Education B.Tech is not recognized as per the guidelines of AICTE and UGC. You can join as a lateral entry student in second year B.Tech CSE in any University or reputed College as a regular program.

I won't give a list here. But I would suggest always aim for high. The colleges :
IITs. NITs. BITS Pilani
BIT Mesra
IIIT ( Indian institute ) avoid new IIITs
IIIT ( International institute) Hyderabad, Bangalore (Dual Degree ) are the best. These list are the best. No other colleges can beat these colleges as they are the brand names. Always aim for the central funded government colleges like the ones mentioned above. Though I have listed some private colleges but they are the best one can say.
Good luck.

As far I know, in some colleges, it is allowed that student from other branches ,other than CSE can pursue his MTech in CSE but under some conditions. You have to write your GATE paper in CSE. Directly, other branches are not admitted as MTech is a research field and without knowledge. Colleges won't admit any non-BTech CSE into CSE in MTech.
