It is not compulsory to have Computers as a subject in 10+2 for B.Tech in Computer Science. The mandatory subjects are Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. However, it is recommended to have Computers as a subject in 12th as it sets the foundation. The same topics are covered in the first year of engineering, so students who have already studied the same in 12th standard have a better chance to score good right from the first year. I hope it helps. If you have any further questions, kindly revert.

Until 2015, it was possible to take direct admission in most of the private engineering colleges in India without appearing for any entrance examination. Both CSE and IT are similar branches. Syllabus of both branches overlap by 80 to 90% in various universities. CSE is more rigorous degree in comparison to IT because of emphasis on theoretical concepts. IT has more emphasis on Application development. CSE closes at higher ranks in any university in comparison to IT. Therefore, academics competition will be higher in CSE batch in comparison to IT batch in same university. Although there is no justification, Indian IT recruiters prefer CSE student over IT students.

As per NASSCOM, Indian IT Industry revenues grew by 13% in FY2015 and it added 2,30,000 employees in FY15. NASSCOM has forecasted that IT industry exports will grow by 12-14% and domestic market by 15-17% in FY2016. I am of the opinion that IT is still a very good career option. Indian IT industry prefers CSE graduates over other engineering graduates. Therefore, CSE graduates have good scope & bright future.
