Without a doubt, HBTU. Both are state government owned institutes which have been converted to universities and are the oldest ones in UP. But the biggest problem with MMMUT is that it is located in Gorakhpur which is not much developed city in comparison to Kanpur. Kanpur offers you better lifestyle and opportunities. Also placements are much better in hbtu than mmmut in every branch. A lot more companies visit hbtu than mmmut. Apart from central government colleges like IIT K, IIT BHU, NIT A, IIIT A, HBTU is the best college of UP
your a software guy then choose HBTU because CSE, IT places you in prominent companies with ample package. Core branches like Electrical, Mechanical, Civil have low placement. If your not serious about branch and want only a job then choose OT-PT branch, even an ineligible can get a job here. My friends in MMU told me that core branch placement is better there. At last, I'd recommended you to choose HBTU because it has got some reputation
