Indian Institute of Information and Technology (IIIT), Dharwad was set up in 2015. It was established under Public-Private Partnership  (PPP) between the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), the Government of India, the Government of Karnataka and KEONICS. It is an 'Institute of National Importance' and aims to address the skill gap in information technology and henceforth, equip India to regain the global leadership role in IT. IIIT Dharwad is among the prestigious IIITs in India. The institute offers BTech across three specialisations. The admission is granted based on the JEE Main score. It also offers a PhD programme, admission to which is also entrance-based.
