The GATE COAP is mainly conducted in five rounds, during which students can accept or reject the offers from the participating institutes. Optional rounds are available from Round 6 to 10. These rounds are treated as independent decisive rounds, where candidates can only accept, freeze, or reject. The GATE COAP Round I registration starts from May 17. Candidates are advised to go through all the instructions and guidelines before registering for the GATE counselling.

There are two types of GATE counselling that offer admission to M.Tech courses and programmes -

  • COAP - it is a portal through which that offers M.Tech admission at IITs and IISc Bangalore
  • CCMT - is a portal through which candidates have to register for M.Tech admission at NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs.

The minimum GATE score to get admission to IIT Bombay for M.Tech can depend on the branch applying for. However, the expected minimum GATE score (on the basis of past year cutoff trends) is 710 to 750+. This is the cutoff score for top branches like CSE, and ME. It can vary for differet subjects/branches.

Yes, GATE 2023 is valid for GATE COAP 2025. To participate in the GATE COAP 2025 counselling, candidates need to register. The registration mode is online and is entirely free. However, candidates must keep their COAP registration number safe, as it has been made mandatory by the participating institutes in their M.Tech application portals.

The official website for GATE COAP admission counselling is - gate.iisc.ac.in/coap2025. COAP stands for the Common Offers Acceptance Portal  for admission into an M.Tech. Programme in the participating academic institutes. COAP is not a portal for applying for M.Tech Admission.
