IIIT Guwahati BTech seats are filled by the Joint Seat Allocation Seat (JoSAA) after qualifying the JEE Main exam. The counselling body doesn't have any registrtaion fee, the filling-in of choices on the online portal is free of cost. However, candidates might have pay the seat acceptance fee . The documents uploaded by the candidate will not be verified unless the candidate pays the seat acceptance fee. General/Open category candidates are required to pay a fee of INR 35,000, whereas SC, Gen-PwD, ST, OBC-NCL-PwD, ST-PwD, and SC-PwD have to pay INR15,000 through e-challan or through SBI net banking. The Indian Institute of Information Technology Guwahati (IIIT Guwahati) offerd two years M.Tech programme under multiple sprcialisations, including Computer Science & Engineering. The BTech CSE eligibility criteria is as follows:
- Candidates with BE/BTech degree in Computer Science and Engineering/ Information Technology / equivalent programme.
- Candidates with MSc (Computer Science/Information Technology)
- Graduates (AMIETE) from the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) in Computer Science and Engineering
- MCA from a recognised Institution.

IIIT Guwahati admissions are held on the basis of entrance tests. For BTech, the accepted exam is the JEE Main. MTech admissions are held on the basis of GATE scoring. Students can pay the application fee and confirm their admission after the counselling round.
