As far as placements and education are concerned, from my point of view a NIT is far better than a reputed state government college. Its my personal suggestion (as I'm from VNIT), that the environment and facilities at VNIT are too good.

IIIT H is a prestigious college and its demand is too high likewise its cutoff also goes high on an average you should have got above 250 marks in JEE Mains to get admission in IIIT H. Admission in IIIT H is worthy and value is too high. As far as dual degree is concern its worthy too.

Top reputed colleges require the students either to write CAT, MAT or XAT or any popular entrance exam for their management courses. However, some of the colleges will be having their own courses where in they will be conducting in their own premises.
So in order to get it into a reputed college I suggest you to take up entrance exam as it would benefit you and gives more knowledge and training for your future.
All the best.

Yes, you can definitely get admission for your engineering graduation after completion of your Diploma. When you complete Diploma, and then seek admission directly into the second year of engineering, it is called as a lateral admission. It is the accepted norm in Maharastra State and you can get admission under this category definitely. BE or B.Tech is one and the same thing, and don't get confused by the nomenclature. Some institutes award B.Tech while others award BE, but both are exactly the same. I am attaching a link of the website of the Directorate of technical education of the Maharashtra government. Hi Sail,
Congratulations on scoring 90 percentile in CAT. This is an amazing score. You can expect from colleges like SIES, SIMSR, IES MET Welingkar. Chances from other top colleges are little low. Good Luck Mate.
