CAT is compulsory to take admission in MBA and MBA IB courses offered by the Institute of Management Studies of BHU (formerly known as FMS BHU). Admission to these courses is based on candidates' performance in CAT, GD-PI and past academic records.

However, candidates seeking admission to the MBA courses offered by other departments of BHU are not required to take CAT. Admission to these MBA courses is through CUET PG. These courses include MBA in Food & Agribusiness Management, MBA in Financial Management, MBA in Foreign Trade, and MBA Risk & Insurance.

BHU CAP UG registrations 2026 for admissions through CUET UG 2026 has started on Jul 9, 2026. The last date to register for the BHU counselling process is Jul 25, 2026. Seat allotment dates are yet to be released but it will tentatively start during the second week of August.

MBA at BHU is worth it for candidates who prioritise Return on Investment or ROI. IMS BHU offers an MBA at a fairly affordable tuition fee of INR 1.2 lakh. As per the latest placement data for the batch of 2026, the median salary for MBA students stood at INR 9.2 LPA. And the average package was INR 10.1 LPA. Yes, students can get admission in University of Lucknow without appearing for CUET. The university mainly accepts students through its in-house UGET for UG admissions. PG admissions are through programme-specific exams, such as CAT/ MAT/ GATE, etc. Hence, CUET is not mandatory for admission to the university. As long as a student has valid score of any other national/ university-level exam, admission is possible.

Banaras Hindu University can be reached via air, rail, or road transport. The airport the nearest to BHU is Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport. It is around 30 KMs away from the campus.

BHU counselling process for BA LLB (CAP-UG) starts in second/ third week of July. The counselling process continues till August end. The seats are allotted in multiple rounds on the basis of entrance merit. 

Application fee for CAP-UG is INR 500 for General/ OBC-NCL/ EWS categories. Categories like SC/ ST/ PwBD have to pay INR 250. The applications are available on official website.

Yes, Banaras Hindu University offers BTech as a 4-year UG course. Students can choose between the specialisations available at the university, such as Dairy Technology and Food Technology. Admission to these courses is based on CUET UG scores. 

Further, IIT BHU also offers BTech in specialisations like CSE, ECE, Mechanical, Civil, etc. Admission to IIT BHU BTech is strictly through the JoSAA Counselling based on JEE Advanced score.
