At Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology:
- Main campus = better faculty, exposure, peer group
- Stronger placement opportunities
- More companies + better overall environment
Dera Bassi campus is newer, so:
- Fewer opportunities comparatively
- Placements are okay but not at Patiala level
Even in 2020, most top companies and higher packages were centered around the Patiala campus.
So if you have the choice → CSE Patiala > CSE Dera Bassi 👍

Yeah, Thapar does have that board merit route with JEE as a tiebreaker.
For CSE at Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, it's quite competitive even through boards.
Rough idea:
- You usually need around 95–97%+ in PCM to be safe
- With 93–95%, chances become borderline (depends on year)
- JEE percentile helps only in tie situations
Cutoffs fluctuate every year based on demand, but CSE is always the highest.
So if your board % is very strong, you've got a shot — otherwise it gets tough 👍

With an 88.6 percentile in JEE Main 2026, getting CSE at IIIT Manipur is difficult for General candidates but very likely for reserved categories.
Admission Probability by Category
Based on previous trends, your percentile (approx. 1.3–1.6 Lakh rank) aligns with these outcomes:
General: Unlikely in JoSAA (usually closes < 60k). However, you have a slim chance in CSAB Special Rounds where ranks have previously stretched to 1.1–1.2 Lakh.
OBC-NCL: Moderate chance. You are on the borderline for CSE specializations.
SC/ST: High/Certain. CSE seats often remain available for ranks up to 3–6 Lakh.

At a 90 percentile in JEE Main, securing CSE in a Delhi GFTI is challenging for General category students but possible via specific quotas. Here is your roadmap:
Best Institutions to Target
Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU): The only true GFTI in Delhi with a B.Tech CSE. However, the cutoff is usually 96+ percentile. You may get in only during CSAB Special Rounds if seats remain vacant.
National Institute of Food Technology (NIFTEM), Kundli: Technically a GFTI on the Delhi-Haryana border. You have a very high chance here, though the focus is on Food Technology.
DSEU (Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University): A state government universi
