Information technology (IT) is the application of computers and internet to store, retrieve, transmit, and manipulate data, or information in the context of a business or other enterprise. The term is commonly used as a synonym for computers and computer networks, but it also encompasses other information distribution technologies such as television and telephones. Several industries are associated with information technology, including computer hardware, software, electronics, semiconductors, internet, telecom equipment, engineering, healthcare, e-commerce, and computer services.
In an academic context, IT degree such B.Tech IT/ BIT/B.Sc IT/ M.Sc IT are degree programs that prepare students to meet the computer technology needs of business, government, healthcare, schools, and other kinds of organizations . IT specialists assume responsibility for selecting hardware and software products appropriate for an organization, integrating those products with organizational needs and infrastructure, and installing, customizing, and maintaining those applications for the organizations computer users. Different courses may vary in depth of subjects courage.

Big data is a term for data sets that are so large or complex that traditional data processing applications are inadequate. Challenges include analysis, capture, data curation, search, sharing, storage, transfer, visualization, querying, updating and information privacy. Big data is a specialization of Business Analytics.
This is the age of Business Analytics. Business analytics refers to the skills, technologies, practices for continuous iterative exploration and investigation of past business performance from organisation historical data to gain insight and drive business planning. Business analytics focuses on developing new insights and understanding of business performance based on data and statistical methods. In manufacturing sector, business analytics is used for product demand and production forecasting, optimal inventory management, cost optimization, predicting supplier behaviors, product quality analysis, service quality analysis, predictive maintenance, study of manufacturing processes, supply chain analysis and many more .
There is an acute shortage of Bigdata and Business Analytics professionals in various industries (Large companies) and IT companies. I am of the opinion that Bigdata professionals have bright future.
