Symbiosis Institute of Design is part of Symbiosis International deemed to be University. This gives it a wide scope to design it's courses as per the market demand.
The institute is located in Pune, the second most industrialized city in Maharashtra after Mumbai. Due to this, the institution is well placed to tap into this pool for placing it's students at appropriate levels.
Again, the Institute has not given out any specific data about placements of students year wise. It indeed has given out a long list of industries that came for campus recruitment. This, in itself is great to show that possibly almost all students must have been placed. Symbiosis has a great name in academic circles and it's courses are considered to be tailored to the market demands and this in turn enables it to place students for internships followed by actual placements after the end of the course. I would say that students have great opportunities for placements here.

Kolhapur, this is the place that is famous in Maharashtra for folk music, folk cinema, arts etc. Since ages. In fact in olden days, majority of Marathi Cinemas were produced here. This necessitated requirement of designers of sets, interior, clothing, textiles etc.
Hence, no wonder that Kalaprabodhini decided to have their institute of design in this city. The courses offered are affiliated to Shivaji University, and hence follow the expected pattern.
However, I am worried about the placements, since Kolhapur is not having a big industrial base. Also, the film studios have shifted out and hence corresponding requirement of designers of different hues is also reduced. Though, it must be accepted that the college is doing everything it can to enable students to get placed. Unfortunately, status or data of the latest years is not available on it's website. But, this could be a consideration for prospective students.

There's no second thought before I write this. Of course, it has to be NID, as it's an institute of national importance. AAFT, on the other hand is a private institute and is known for B.Des as well. NID is best known for design courses, and you will have ample of opportunities after passing out from there. Coming to it's placements, several graduates tend to start their own studio. According to LinkedIn, 377 out of 3500 graduates are Entrepreneurs (Nowhere close to the 60% stat by Sumit Shah, but I hope he can give some source). Popular companies (based on no. Of NIDians employed) are Cognizant, Microsoft, SAP, Adobe, Samsung, Godrej, HFI etc.
All your main/subject questions lead to one destination that is how much money you can earn after graduating from NID. If that is the only concern you have, then start your own business to earn. NID won't teach you how to earn money. You have to use your 100% brains, if you have to be on the top. How NID can help you to put you in good companies? It also depends on the stream you apply for. \
Now look at another scenario. Let's say you love textile design, and you want to apply for Textile/Apparel design at NID, right. What if I tell you that go for some of the UX related courses in NID to get more packages, will you just listen to me and go ahead with it? If yes, then you have got no passion for a particular design rather than earning money. If that is the case, then stop doing it. Have a vision where do you want to be and as a what. You will earn money for sure after graduating from colleges, like NID or IIT that would take some time along with the level of industry experience you have.

Yes, it does involve extra expenses. On an average you'll be spending approximately 6-7000 on them. But they do add to your portfolio and are totally worth it.nIn terms of package, you can expect a min of 23-25000 INR pm in hand.nYou do have a lot of spare time during the course. So, you can always utilize them to earn few extra bucks.nIf you are very much interested in design and strongly want to pursue it as your profession, Ill say yes. But if you are not sure about it, don't take it forward. Design is too much of hard work and extensive research and getting practical as well as balancing the artsy side. Most don't find it suitable and that become their the worst decision. So if you really want to ask if its worth, ask yourself will you able to? And how interested are you? All the best.

No doubt, Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati is a better institute for Designing. IIT-Guwahati is a premier institutes in technology and innovation in India. IIT is much known for interdisciplinary research in engineering, design, behavioral and social sciences. IIT-G campus life is apt for students, they get ample opportunities to showcase the talents. Placements and Internships are in top companies in IT, FMCG, and Manufacturing. Design Village Institute - non-profit institute registered in the State of Washington affiliated to Shri Venkateswara University. VDI offers only 10 seats for Interior Architecture, Product Design, Fashion Design, and Graphic Design PG Course. VDI also has an international exchange programme. The course has an apt combination of learning, practice and global knowledge. The fee is around 7-8 Lacs for the course. Comparing the two IIT-G has a good ROI and the best place to study for Masters in Designing.

Both the institutes are equally good. Sushant School of Design is one of the top institutes of Design in Northern India. Much known for a holistic approach in studies with the proper combination of practical and research work. Masters in Design M.Des programme is designed in such a way that it helps is in-depth as well as basic understanding of the subject matter. Faculty members are friendly and helpful. Campus life is apt for academics, students are given opportunities to go forth and look for newer opportunities. Many clubs and committees created to encourage students to showcase out of box thinking. The fee is not very high around INR 4-5 Lacs for the entire course. Separate committee for the placements i.e. corporate resource center, which plays an important role in shaping the careers of students from their induction and orientation, summer internships, mid-term projects, right to their final placements and even beyond. GLS Institute is one of the finest colleges of Designing. Maintained the standard of quality. Amenities and required equipment are in the appropriate amount. Faculty members are good and helpful. Hi, Never take any undue pressure when you are in CU. This year, 465 companies had its visit in CU and you can think taht there are only 365 days in a year but the no. Of companies here increase every year. Last year, it was 425.nYou will be placed here in any big corporate. Companies like Hewlett Packard, Flipkart, Google, Adobe, Amazon visitited Punjab campus for the 1st time to conduct their campus placements, the highest package offered to 2016 batch student touched Rs. 22.5 lacs.activities: PRATIBHA, AAGHAAZ, Rangmanch, RASHTRIYE HASYA KAVI SAMMELAN, ABHIVYAKTI, and participation in various events held at other colleges, there are various clubs you can join.nCU has good Joint Placement Record. There's no placement cell focusing only on DESIGN candidates but they are fed with placements just as the engineering students giving them almost equal opportunities. A lot of companies including the biggies visit the campus for the joint placement drive.So you can imagine the extent of competitiveness.EG:-A guy is from BE (CSE) then he needs to compete not only with the 1400 other BE (CSE) guys of his batch but also with the students from several other colleges who come to CU to participate in the Joint Placement Drive.But if you are knowledgeable enough that you can compete with all of them than its great.nAll the best.

B.Des at IITG is very good where every other branch mostly envy the design branch particularly. The reason is their schedule, curriculum, decent packages which is very different from other regular branches.
I dont exactly know the details but heard from other Design mates that their average salary is around 15lakhs! (Cases like people with no placements, very high packages and people opting for higher studies will be present).
Placements: The placements at DoD are on par with the best of departments and institutes. The department has an institute wide best figures of 95+% of placed students, with only 3 of them still searching for opportunities. Last year, the department had a record 100 % record in placements. The slight decline this year can be attributed to the increase in batch strength, which almost doubled compared to last year. The average salary package of the Bachelors currently stands at 9.7 LPA.
EDIT: UPDATE: The current average salary package for the B.Des students has soared to around 15 LPA. This is for the 2011-2014 batch. I will update the exact figures shortly.
