Yes, you are eligible to apply for M.Des. After completing graduation, you can apply for CEED or M.Des.
All applicants will have to undergo the Design Aptitude Test.
Educational Qualification: Applicants must either have appeared for (results awaited), passed, or will be appearing for any of the following degree examinations before July 2017:
Bachelors degree in any discipline under the 10+2+4 (or more) system, from any university or institute recognized by law in India.
Diploma in design under the 10+2+4 system, from any university or institute recognized by law in India.

I feel course in automobile engineering would be better as compared with Automobile designing.

To do this course from an IIT, search for the exam named CEED (common entrance exam for design).
