Taking a gap for studies is generally not advised. It will help as you will get more time to study but some recruiters might look at that negatively. Others might not bother much.

Exams conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission)
Names of Exams Time
-Combined Medical Services Examination January
-Central Police Forces (Assistant Commandants) Examination October
-Section Officers/Stenographers (Grade-B/Grade-I) Limited Departmental Competitive Examination December

No, only institute under Mumbai, Pune and other state universities have such provisions. You need to contact the SRMofficials personally for specific admission details as it differs from one college to another.
