If he repeats his performance there, he can get the most sought after branch of CSE in IIT Mumbai. Why settle for NIT? A candidate can give JEE Main exam six times over a period of three consecutive years. In a year, a candidate can appear for JEE Main twice in the months of January and April. If the candidate has passed 12th exam in 2019 then the candidate can appear in 2020 and 2021 JEE Main.

Yes, at this rank you will get CSE branch in NIT Patna, NIT Jamshedpur, NIT Hamirpur, NIT Durgapur, BIT Mesra, etc. These are some NITs for the CSE branch at your rank. I would suggest you go till the last round. You might be getting a better NIT in which you get CSE if possible.
